The official notification of approval of the Journal of Transcatheter Interventions by the Latin American and Caribbean Health Sciences Literature (LILACS) was received with much enthusiasm. The journal has been published for 18 months in a new and contemporary online continuous format, was assessed together with 11 journals and only 3 were approved.

We initiated our activities as Revista Brasileira de Cardiologia Invasiva , in 1993. In its 17-year history, it is evident that the major challenge of the editorial board has been attracting original articles, which would nurse great ambitions, such as to be indexed in PubMed®/MEDLINE. Authors refuse submitting to journals that do not have an Impact Factor for they desire visibility of their research. The Impact Factor symbolizes prestige and relevance of a publication, and is measured by the number of citations to published manuscripts in a journal. Therefore, we are at the mercy of a logistic chain that does not appreciate our plans of further standing out.
