A 59-year-old female patient with breast cancer (ductal carcinoma in situ ), treated with chemotherapy, radiation therapy and hormone therapy as relevant past medical history.
During follow-up in oncology consultation, the patient presented cough and underwent a chest X-ray and thoracic computed tomography that revealed a fracture and embolization of intravascular portion of central venous catheter to the right pulmonary artery (Figures 1A and 1B). The patient was referred to cardiac catheterization lab for percutaneous removal of the intravascular portion of the central venous catheter.
